Posted on Saturday, August 22nd, 2009 at 10:07 amHappy fasting to all Muslims around the world, here come the holy month again, thank Allah, I still alive.
So, what do you think about fasting? Allah created this obligation principle for Muslims is so magnificence! We’re look from medical perspective, Fasting in general has been used in medicine for medical reasons including weight management, for rest of the digestive tract and for lowering lipids. There are many experiment that proved fasting is good for us (you can search on internet or library), especially Ramadan fasting, below, I listed some of the effect and benefits,
Health : Lowering of blood sugar, lowering of bad cholesterol (LDL, low density lipoprotein) and increase good cholesterol (HDL, high density lipoprotein) and also lowering of the systolic blood pressure. In fact, Ramadan fasting would be an ideal recommendation for treatment of mild to moderate, stable, non-insulin diabetes, obesity and essential hypertension.
Psychological : There is a peace and tranquility for those who fast during the month of Ramadan. Personal hostility is at a minimum, and the crime rate decreases. This psychological improvement could be related to better stabilization of blood glucose during fasting as hypoglycemia after eating, aggravates behavior changes. Similarly, recitation of the Quran not only produces a tranquility of heart and mind, but improves the memory.
Fasting, are not ordeals but rather great opportunities for us to develop our soul…
happy ramadhan =)
